PINOT NOIR 2023

Our cult favourite is back in the 2023 vintage! 
 
Think fresh, bright cherry & strawberry, spice & violet aromatics. 
 
Pinot Noir was one of the first wines that we made back in 2018. We knew we had great fruit to work with here and we’d heard so much from Dino about the potential for the vines to make a smashing wine, so we put it to the test.
You could say he’s somewhat of an aficionado for growing King Valley Pinot Noir. So, in honour of this, this wine is kept pure to the fruit, made without oak and only what’s needed in the winery, as a nod to the work he’d put in to getting it to the quality fruit it is today. 
It can be a finnicky beast to work with, but we’re lucky enough to have this blueprint in the vineyard and an ideal site to grow it on. 
 
In the winery: 
Fruit was uncrushed, destemmed, made in stainless steel tanks with 20% whole bunch cab mac, to retain freshness & lift the bright flavours of cherry & strawberry. 
 
 
In the vineyard: 
Our (clone mv6) pinot vines are north-facing, and nestled up on a hillside, which has made for a great growing environment, helping to get the right level of sun exposure and balance in flavour, acid & colour. There are varying soil types in this block, from the top to the bottom of the hill, developing different characteristics in the fruit and added complexity in the wine.
